Timber is the new canvas...
Printing direct to timber has been made possible with the introduction of UV flatbed printers in 2005. Modern printers will print direct to to timber at 1440 dpi using a 6 colour CMYKLCLM process. With the addition of a white ink process, many interesting effects can be created. The sample below has been created with a 50% white "wash" which underpins the colour images, This allows for the wood grain to show through for a really nice effect.
